Friday Feature #4

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 8, 2008, 12:28 PM

Finally weekend!

This Friday, I'm featuring a relatively well known artist here on dA. Her name is Nilgün Kara and she comes from Turkey. Her work is a big source of inspiration for me. Innovative minimalistic work which continues to mesmerize and thrill me. She probably doesn't need this feature, but I have to give her credit for the countless brilliant images she have produced. So, enjoy!

While I have been using my camera for work-related stuff the past three weeks, I'm yet to have found time and conditions suitable for my own personal portfolio work. This weekend I'm hoping to catch the sunrise at a place called "Land's End" (which you've probably seen in my gallery). Hopefully the conditions will be good this time.

I had an enjoyable shooting experience this last week. I was asked if I could shoot something for a client at work. Food shots. Terrifying too, since I didn't have a clue what I was doing at first. After a couple of dozen shots though, I managed to control the light and light the food dishes better. I really missed having a dedicated macro lens for this work as I really wanted to get up close with the food (it tasted great btw!). While I got a few great shots, I wasn't all that impressed by myself. Next time will be better though. I've also found out that food photography is a real artform...

At work, we're investing in lighting equipment for product shots and so forth. I've been tasked to find suitable equipment (daunting...). Hopefully I will be able to borrow this equipment and follow my "secret" dream which is story-telling-people-photography (conceptual stuff). I have tons of ideas which I've not yet been able to execute due to lack of proper equipment.

Have a great weekend people!

- Anders

Alltid hyggelig å se solen krype over horisonten. Iallefall i sommerhalvåret.

These particular filters are indeed circular. Screws onto the lens.

thank you sir...
are these circular filters that screw on to your lens? or are they the square type mounted filters?

I'm sorry, but I cannot reply and thank you all because of the filter which doesn't allow me to post too many messages in a row.
=pheelfresh:iconpheelfresh: Apr 12, 2008, 2:59:06 AM
THank you!

For long exposures I use a filter called "Hoya x400 (ND400)". 9-stop ND filter. You can also get a B+W filter called ND1024 which is a 13-stop ND.
