I chose the most cliché title I could possibly imagine on this piece. Hope you don't mind :)

This was a shot I did on the day of the first snowfall this year. Sunset. Here, the sun has just dipped below the ridgeline in the top right of the frame and casts its glow on the landscape.
The weather had just begun to clear from the earlier snowfall and many different types of clouds appeared as the layers started to break up. In addition to the light, I really love the texture this new ice creates.

I used the same RAW file twice here. Mostly to get a more dramatic and contrasty sky without damaging the dynamic range. The second RAW file was taken down probably -1 ev. Saturation gain. Curves adjustment.

Thanks for looking!

..just a tiny thing though mate, I think I can see a couple of dust spots in the sky you might have missed.
A vertical line below the P and the G of "Photography" around where the cloud starts.
You might want to remove it if you're selling the shot for a print.

Sorry, I feel an ass for pointing this out (I get really annoyed when people are this picky about my shots), but on the print version, you really don't want them there.

It's a bloody fantastic shot though mate, excellent work

I'm replying to both your comments here.

Thanks Andy. I was fortunate with the light and sky conditions on this particular shoot. Since then, the weather has been foggy and cloudy.

And many thanks for pointing out the dust spot. I actually found a couple more while examining it closely but I forgot to deal with them then. I've removed all dust spots from the print source image now. No worries mate. None at all

I almost never set out to photograph a landscape, nor do I think of my camera as a means of recording a mountain or an animal unless I absolutely need a 'record shot'. My first thought is always of light. -Galen Rowell
