Mountain Light
Spectacular experience of light in the Norwegian Jotunheimen mountain range. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: Leirungsdalen, Jotunheimen, Norway Date: July 16th, 2008 Light Conditions: Cloudy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Camera: Canon EOS 5D Lens: Canon EF 17-40 f/4L USM Focal Length: 31 mm Flash: -- Flash Mode: -- Shutter Speed: 6.0 sec (main exposure) Aperture: 18.0 ISO: 100 Panorama: -- Tonemapping: -- Tripod: Manfrotto 055PROB Tripod Head: Manfrotto 488RC2 Filters: - Cokin Z-Pro Z121S ND Grad (ND8) - Hoya S-HMC Pro 77mm polarizer It's been a while since I last submitted something to dA. I figured it was time I submitted one of this summers' images. Haven't had the chance to photograph a lot this summer due to me having very little vacation. Work is busier than ever. This shot was sort of done on impulse. Wasn't planned at all. I had originally planned to walk a few clicks to get to my location, but due to some lousy planning and stupidity, I managed to soak my mountain boots (and pants) while trying to cross a river. The river was not at all crossable. At least not where I thought it would be. I had chosen to cross the river way downstream and this was my mistake. The river was much smaller and shallower upstream. Anyways this is one of three decent shots that I've made this summer. Thankfully I was blessed with marvellous lighting conditions. This is by the way a two-shot blend to maintain highlight in the sky. So don't be fooled by the EXIF. The title is in honor of the late Galen Rowell. This upcoming Saturday, I'm heading north. Leaving for the Lofoten Island group in the northern parts of Norway. I'll be away for cirka two weeks hoping to catch some great great light. Lofoten contains some of the most epic landscapes in the world. Seascapes, mountains, rural moods, everything. It's a 1400 kilometres drive though -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY WORK IS NOT STOCK AND IS COPYRIGHTED.
