Finally another submission. I've kind of neglected deviantART for the past couple of weeks. Perhaps it's the warm weather. Lets say that. The thing is, when I finally have time off, I need to spend it out photographing.

So, here it is. Another waterscape (bleh) from the now famous lake Tyrifjorden, eastern Norway. A place I now know like the palms of my hands.

Many thanks for the support the last couple of weeks, rest assured I've read every comment.

This photo was a tad bit underexposed. The camera's LCD can really fool you sometimes. When I got this up on the good old CRT screen it was dark. Way too dark for my taste really. I stretched the exposure in Lightroom by approximately +1.5. This in turn gave me more noise. Even more noise was gained during processing it, when my contrast enhancements really tore the image apart. However, thanks to Noise Ninja, I managed to salvage the image from complete destruction. There's still a lot of visible noise left, but personally I don't find that too disturbing. Hence I'm submitting it.

The thing about doing long exposures in fading light is that when you expose for this long, you also record the fading light itself. Hence, the image becomes darker than expected.

This was a fantastic night btw, with gorgeous ever-changing light. The sunset just seemed to last forever. I wish it really did...

Thank you for looking!

- Anders

I almost never set out to photograph a landscape, nor do I think of my camera as a means of recording a mountain or an animal unless I absolutely need a 'record shot'. My first thought is always of light. -Galen Rowell

The noise isnt that notable, but I did notice some before I read the description ;)

Well done.

Great picture again.

Which remote do you use ? and how do you setup the right exposure time ? trying it a few times ? and a bit of guessing ? thats how i do mine... but perhaps there is a better way...

You make fun of me, because i am different, i make fun of you because you are all the SAME

I guess :) After having used the Hoya ND400 for a while now I can pretty much guess when to the close the shutter. Others prefer calculating exposure without filter and then adding 9 stops to the exposure. That is also an effective way of doing it.

The remote I'm using is the standard Canon RS-80N3 cable release shutter. Not very advanced, but it works great and is built very sturdy.

Thank you.

Sometimes, noise can really devastate an image. Here, I think it isnt too distracting and therefore I submitted it. I wish I had exposed this for 60 seconds longer though... Would be easier to work with in post processing. But I also like challenges...

THank you!
