What a fantastic location this was. I count myself as lucky to have had the opportunity to see this gorgeous part of Norway. Unparalleled by anything I've seen.

I spent a couple of evenings on this beach just lounging. Sitting back, and enjoying the sunset. The weather for the sunset shoots was less than favorable for photographers with zero clouds and strong, harsh light. I do have a few shots from those sessions as well, but I choose to submit this first and then we'll see what happens to the others.

This shot is from a late morning session. A scouting trip really. But the light was fantastic. Subdued by the heavy ever-changing clouds. Rain was falling, although not as much as it had earlier in the day. In the distance you can spot the rain-clouds moving towards shore.

Personally, I count this shot as my favorite from my Lofoten trip.

Thank you for looking and I hope you all get to visit this wonderful place in this life or the other.

- Anders

The download botton is for downloading the picture right?
I am afraid it's broken :(
I'd love to use it on a pet profile only IF you allow me to :)
I suppose that the original picture is bigger than this one and it'd be of great use to me!

This are two of my pet profiles so you can see I can work out  something good

Absolutely gorgeous shot! :w00t:
I hope someday to be a photographer of this caliber... I'm currently working with Ilford black and white film, so I hope to develop my technique further in working with a limited palette. Any suggestions or advice you feel you could lend to a poor little Photo I student? =D

And if possible, I'd totally be interested in seeing the colour version of this if it's even remotely possible....

And thank you!

Well, since I don't shoot film (yet) I really don't have any useful advice for you. However, I think that working with digital b/w has some similarities to working with b/w film. I always go for the highest possible contrast in a scene. Sometimes I just push it beyond the limits and then use masks to recover the details lost in the process. It's especially difficult to retain detail in the shadows when working with high contrast imagery. Shadows are as important as the highlights I think. Try to keep as much of both visible without loosing too much contrast.

Thanks so much. I appreciate the tips. =D
The film isn't too much different from digital except that when you lose detail in a digital photo there's really not many ways you can get it back; sometimes not at all. Sometimes with film you can still pull out subtle details during the printing process through either dodging or burning.

The lighting is weird, but the landscape is amazing! I love the composition, you have a nice subtle diagonal with the rocks leading you up to the horizon line. :)

Great composition. The stones lead the view nicely to the distant mountain.
The covered sky created smoothy subtle light which lights the landscape perfectly.
You did really well by making a longer exposure.
The b/w conversion looks excellent - really accurate.

Beautiful place and a photograph which imparts it so well.

What routine do you use to convert your images to b/w?

Have a nice week mate

dette bildet var utrolig fint, jeg ble overrasket over at det ikke var utbrent med en gang men du har virkelig fått det bra til.

Den mørke bakgrunnen mot den lyse stranden gjør seg veldig bra.
